What Is SOC 2 Type II
SOC 2 Type II is an attestation report developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) that assesses the operational effectiveness of an organization’s controls over a defined period. Unlike the Type I report, which provides a snapshot of controls at a single point in time, a Type II report demonstrates that those controls were consistently applied and effective throughout the audit period.
This report is based on the AICPA’s Trust Services Criteria relevant to security — ensuring that information and systems are protected against unauthorized access, both physical and logical. Widely recognized as a benchmark for data security and risk management, SOC 2 Type II provides assurance that an organization is committed to protecting customer data in accordance with trusted industry practices.
